Open Papermaking
Come have fun making paper for your projects! Pulp included, basic papermaking help for beginners, studio time for the more advanced.

October 18-22 we will be at The Friends of Dard Hunter northeast regional conference in Pittsfield Mass. Melinda Cross will demonstrate marbling and we will have a table to sell small paper making moulds and papers

Washi: Japanese Papermaking
An introduction to the art of making Japanese paper, called Washi, from kozo fiber (Paper Mulberry) using traditional methods. Washi is an extremely strong paper and can be used for calligraphy, printmaking, painting, shoji screens, scrolls, lamps, books and all kinds of unique projects. This Japanese Paper Arts Series will begin with the basics of washi and then make decorative papers, simple japanese journals and finally lamps. In this class, a brief background of Japanese paper will be followed by hands on papermaking as students prepare the vat, form sheets and press them in this one day workshop. Some decorative techniques, such as embedding or creating patterns with water (rakusui) will also be introduced. Stove Factory Open Studios Dec. 3, and 4.                                                                            523 Medford Street Charlestown, MA                                                                                     Artists in our building will have their studios open and work prepared for sale. We will be running paper and print studio tours, activities, and have various types of paper and printed matter for sale.                                                                             Free event with refreshments.

Most paper takes 12 hours to dry in our restraint drying system. Your dry paper can be picked up at the studio or mailed.
