Japanese Lampmaking

Both Classes recommended as a series, discount price of $135 for both days, includes material fee

Learn the craft of traditional Japanese papermaking and then make your own Japanese papers that we will use the following day to make the lampshades. Washi is an extremely strong paper that can be used for all sorts of unique projects requiring durability and some translucency. Papers for lampmaking can also be decorated or embedded with leaves.

Together, we’ll each create a simple wooden frame and then attach your own handmade paper to make a very elegant Japanese lamp. We will discuss other lamp making techniques as well.
